Day 1.5. Sri Lanka
I'll just finish that first day - my prediction about being too tired last night was correct, as we got to the hotel about 12.30am (about 5.30am Adelaide time). Essentially, we hung around Changi for a couple more hours, during which time we found a sunflower garden and I mildly sprained my ankle on a small trampoline. This is not a good idea Eventually we boarded the final flight. This was a bit over three hours; Lynn slept almost the whole time, while I insisted on a final unnecessary meal before my nap. The Colombo airport was cool, green and pleasant. The whole place has a like-India-but-less-crowded feel. We were collected for our transfer and then half an hour in a minivan to the hotel. We often seem to arrive in new places at night, and it's disorienting, the more so as the driver took a number of short cuts down narrow suburban streets. Our hotel seems to be a short distance north of the airport and Comombo, on the west coast of the pear-shaped island.
